There is parking available in lots
along the way. The Appalachian Trail crosses
from the left-hand side of the road and there is a parking
lot across from it; park there and then hop on
the AT for about one mile. The hike out to
Buzzard Rock is relatively
flat and shady and the white blazes are well-
marked. Once you're out from under the trees
and on the grassy bald, you'll
see the rocks ahead of you. Follow the white blazes
to the rocks and enjoy the views!
- Want a longer day hike?
Park at Elk Garden off of US 600 and
take the Appalachian Trail southbound
toward Buzzard Rock. The hike is longer
than parking near the top and hiking in; it's
about a 5 mile, relatively easy hike.
