Looking for a secluded swimming hole to take a dip in
during a hot summer day? Not a problem. The Damascus area provides an ample number of swimming holes that are easy to access and relatively private. If you're up in the Grayson Highlands State Park, the Wilson Creek Trail runs right along the creek's edge, and there are plenty of places to get off the trail and relax in one of the pools. The Cabin Creek Trail also provides a great place to chill out. Although not as popular as the Wilson Creek Trail, this 2 mile loop borders the creek where there are plenty of opportunities to take a dip.
Not wanting to travel all the way up the mountain just to get in some water? The Creeper Trail runs alongside Whitetop Laurel Creek and there are multiple pools that are deep enough to sit in and cool off.
